A serious collision at the intersection of Badger and Bradway Road resulted in serious injuries and a fatality on Wednesday evening.
After the Alaska State Troopers were notified of the collision, Fairbanks Bureau of Highway Patrol and Fairbanks Patrol responded to investigate. At the scene, they found that a 2008 Toyota Corolla, driven by 18-year-old Elizabeth Schack, was struck on the driver’s side by a 1999 Ford F-350 as it entered the intersection. The F-350 was driven by 51-year-old Jeffery Butler of Fairbanks.
Schack, from North Pole had recently graduated from high school.
All involved in the collision suffered injuries and were transported to the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital by EMS. The teen-aged passenger in the Corolla suffered life threatening injuries. Schack was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Butler suffered minor injuries and was later released.
The investigation is still underway and fault has not been established.
Schack’s next of kin were notified.
