It was announced by the Atlantic County Prosecutors office in New Jersey that authorities had arrested the father of the four-year-old boy who shot his six-year-old playmate on April 8th.
The father, 33-year-old Anthony Senatore was arrested at his home in Berkeley Township at approximately 6:30 pm and charged with five counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child for each of the unsecured weapons found in his home by investigators. It was on April 8th that Senatore’s four-year-old son went into his home after playing outside with his playmate Brandon Holt and re-emerged from the house with a loaded .22 caliber firearm that shortly thereafter discharged and struck the young Holt boy in the head as he played about forty-five feet away.
The young boy was taken to the Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he died from his injuries the next day.
Investigators in the case found that several firearms were kept in the house that were easily accessible to the children in the home. In addition to the .22 caliber that killed the young child, investigators found a Stevens 12-gauge shotgun, two Harrington and Richardson shotguns as well as a Remington 12-gauge shotgun unsecured in the home with ammunition in close proximity to the weapons.
Senatore was taken to the Ocean County jail but posted $100,000 bail later that night.
