A serious collision occurred at mile 185 of the Parks Highway just after 8 pm on Wednesday night between a truck and a semi.
It was then that Kevin Bailey was dring northbound on the Parks Highway in a semi, Bailey’s semi was also pulling double trailers.
Traveling in the other direction, was a Ford F-350 traveling southbound. The F-350 crossed over into the northbound lane as it was approaching the semi. In an effort to avoid the truck, Bailey turned into the southbound lane. But, the F-350 crashed into the semi, rolled into the guardrail and burst into flames. DPS identified the driver as Roy E. Johnson, 27, of Wasilla, on Friday.
The semi ended up in the ditch.
Johnson escaped the F-350, but suffered serious injuries to his head.
The Bureau of Highway Patrol from Fairbanks responded to the accident. Johnson was transported to the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious head injuries.
As of today, Johnson is still listed in critical condition at ANMC in Anchorage
The investigation into the incident is continuing.
