At 9:06 pm Tuesday night, Alaska State Troopers responded to a two-vehicle collision involving fatalities on the Parks Highway.
When troopers arrived at the scene, they found one of the vehicles, a GMC Safari, engulfed in flames. The highway was closed off as fire-fighting efforts were utilized to extinguish the flames.
The trooper investigation at the scene revealed that a 1996 Lincoln Towne Car, driven by 25-year-old Sara Johnston was northbound on the Parks Highway near the intersection of the Parks Highway and South Rainbow Street, when the vehicle crossed into the southbound lane.
A 1995 GMC Safari was traveling southbound on the highway, when it impacted the oncoming Towne Car. Following the collision, the Safari burst into flames. Two passengers in the Safari, who have yet to be identified, died in the incident.
Johnston, who troopers believe was not wearing her seatbelt, also died in the collision.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
