After abandoning its previous plan to replace founding father, Alexander Hamilton on the $10 bill, Andrew Jackson will lose his place on the $20 bill to Union Army spy and abolitionist, African-American, Harriet Tubman.
Jackson will be moved to the back of the bill. His image will possibly be incorporated into the imagery of the White House. Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew states that it may be that Jackson will be portrayed riding on a horse.[xyz-ihs snippet=”adsense-body-ad”]
Harriet will become the first African-American to be on U.S. paper currency and will be the first woman in over than one hundred years to be so honored. Coinage already portray women, the gold dollar coin portrays Sacajawea, and the silver dollar coin portrays Susan B. Anthony.
The $20 bill is the third most popular denomination, surpassed by the one-dollar-bill, of which 11.4 billion are in circulation, and the $100 bill, that has 11 billion in circulation.
The new design for the $20 bill is expected to be complete by 2020, the 100th anniversary of the woman’s right to vote.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adversal-468×60″]
