On Tuesday, Alaska State Troopers reported the death of a 66-year-old Healy man who had gone out on a wood cutting expedition on Friday afternoon and never returned.
AST received a report at approximately 1 AM on Saturday morning reporting that Beryl James Palmer of Healy, ” was overdue from retrieving firewood near his residence.” The caller reported that Palmer had left his residence at 1 PM on Friday driving a bulldozer and equipped with a chainsaw, and had never returned.
Troopers responded to the report, and commenced search and rescue activities. They were assisted by volunteers and Tri-Valley EMS. Searchers located the remains of Palmer at approximately 6:30 AM on Saturday morning.
The ensuing investigation revealed “that Beryl Palmer was crushed by a tree he was felling.”
Although no foul play was suspected, Palmer’s remains were sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage for autopsy.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
