After three days of searching, the FBI investigators looking for the remains of former Teamster boss Jimmy Hoffa once again came up empty-handed.
It was announced on Wednesday that the search for Hoffa at the site has ended. The site was investigated after Tony Zerilli, the son Detroit mob boss Joseph Zeriili reported to authorities that Hoffa was buried there after being struck with a shovel and buried alive. Zerilli said after Hoffa was placed in the ground at the site, a concrete slab was placed over him.

Although Zerilli is selling a manuscript that he reports to be the true story of Hoffa’s death, his lawyer David Chasnick denies that Zerilli’s intent was to make money on the story. Chasnick said, “The only interest I think that Mr. Zerilli really cares about is that the body be found and these people be put at ease that the body and remains have finally been found. The FBI wouldn’t be doing all this stuff if they thought it was just a ploy.”
Former FBI Special Agent John Anthony said that he was skeptical of Zerilli’s story and that Zerilli came up with the story for monetary reasons. When asked if Zerilli did it for the money Anthony replied, “I think there’s no doubt about that. The man’s broke. He has no money. That’s why he came out in January with this story on the insistence of his wife.”
Hoffa was last seen outside of a restaurant in Oakland County July 30th, 1975, he was 62 at the time.
