The Hooper Bay Police Department relayed to the Alaska State Troopers that they had received a distress call from a boat approximately 18 miles off-shore in the Bering Sea on Wednesday night.

The call to the troopers at 8:33 pm reported that 39-year-old Albert Green, his 10-year-old son and 47-year-old James Hale were having engine problems in their 18-foot aluminum fishing boat.
A search party was immediately launched from Hooper Bay and made its way to the location given. Meanwhile, the Coast Guard was notified and a C-130 was launched from Kodiak.
At approximately 1 am, the Bethel-based troopers were notified that the search party from Hooper Bay made it to the boat’s location and reported everything was fine.
Everyone in the search party, the boat and its occupants made it safely back to Hooper Bay at 2:15 am.
