31-year-old Fairbanks resident Donnel Johnson, one of the few remaining, and a key player in the Anchorage – Fairbanks drug conspiracy involving "ODC," was sentenced in federal court on Friday, according to the Justice Department.
Johnson, also known as “Creep,” was sentenced in federal court in Anchorage by United States District Court Chief Judge Ralph Beistline to 18 years in prison and five years of supervised release on charges related to drug conspiracy. In addition Johnson was also ordered to forfeit vehicles and jewelry derived from drug trafficking.
Johnson played a key role in the drug trafficking conspiracy that involved the recording label “Out Da Cutt,” or “ODC Entertainment.” Johnson was in charge of the distribution of cocaine in Fairbanks during the time that the conspiracy. Courtroom documents pointed out, and prosecutors attested to the role that Johnson played as the largest distributor of cocaine in Fairbanks during the time of the conspiracy’s operation.
it has long been known by the prosecutors in the case that the members of the “UNDB,” or “Up North Dope Boys” used the recording label as a cover for their covert drug activities. The members of the conspiracy used the proceeds of their drug conspiracy to live a luxurious lifestyle that was depicted in many of their videos produced by the group and label.
According to court filings, in November 2012, United States Postal Service intercepted 10 kg of cocaine bound for two different Anchorage addresses. During the delivery of one of the packages, Johnson was observed in a vehicle conducting counter – surveillance in the area. Then, it was in January of 2012, while on a routine errand on personal time, and Anchorage Police Department detective assigned to the Drug Enforcement Agency task force, recognized a vehicle that was at the scene at that earlier date. As that detective continued to watch that vehicle in the Fred Meyer’s parking lot, and as he did so, Johnson arrived at the scene, pulled up to the vehicle, and placed a large duffel bag into that vehicle.
Anchorage police officers, would after that contact, pull the vehicle over and discover that 12 kg of cocaine was treated in the duffel bag. It was ascertained during that investigation that the duffel bag was bound for Fairbanks to be delivered to Johnson and his accomplices for distribution in the Fairbanks area. As a result of that seizure, numerous search warrants and Fairbanks and Anchorage were issued, and resulted in the arrest of approximately 2 dozen people.
Johnson was one of four remaining people that have been convicted on charges in the conspiracy awaiting sentencing . Tevoris Carter, Emma Shine, and Terrance Fleming have plead guilty for their roles in connection with the conspiracy and also await sentencing.
Previously, on November 2, 2012, Chief Judge Beistline sentenced Christopher Anderson to 14 months imprisonment. DeMarr Moultrie was sentenced to 40 months imprisonment on May 1, 2013. Jeraelyn Hill was sentenced to 66 months imprisonment on May 28, 2013. Jerry Wormley was sentenced to 36 months imprisonment on May 31, 2013. Rock Phelps II was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment on June 14, 2013. Brent Gunnels was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment on August 2, 2013. Mihla Hall was sentenced to 28 months imprisonment on August 21, 2013. Joshua Mustovich was sentenced to 87 months imprisonment on September 6, 2013. Dalon Johnson was sentenced to 92 months imprisonment on September 24, 2013. Antonio Fleming was sentenced to 70 months imprisonment on January 14, 2014.
Chief Judge Beistline pointed out before sentencing Johnson, the seriousness of his crimes, he told Johnson, “for at least the last 3 to 5 years, you were pouring cocaine into the Fairbanks community.”
