The residents of the Kenai Peninsula were shaken awake on Saturday morning at 6:16 am as a 5.5 magnitude earthquake jarred the area.
The quake occurred 18 miles north northwest of Anchor Point approximately in the middle of Cook Inlet. It was generated at a depth of 54.7 miles beneath the surface.
There has been no reports of damage.
The NOAA Tsunami Center reports no risk of tsunami from the earthquake.
