In a Sunday announcement, Kentucky Fried Chicken stated that they would pay $30,000 towards a young girl’s medical bills after one of their Jackson, Mississippi stores asked the girl to leave their store because her injuries to her face were disturbing their other customers last Thursday.

The young girl, Victoria Wilcher, who had extensive injuries from an April Pit Bull attack, had suffered a broken upper and lower jaw, broken nose, cheek bones and right eye socket, lost her right eye. She has been going through reconstructive surgery. The Simpson County girl was drug from her grandfather’s home by three pit bulls and also suffered dog bites all over her body in April of this year.

The girl had just finished another doctor’s appointment when her and her grandmother stopped in to KFC for a bite to eat when she was asked to leave.

KFC has opened an investigation into the claims that the young girl was asked to leave because of her disfiguring injuries and said on Sunday,

“As soon as we were notified of this report on Friday, we immediately began an investigation, as this kind of hurtful and disrespectful action would not be tolerated by KFC,” spokesman Rick Maynard wrote Sunday. “Regardless of the outcome of our investigation, we have apologized to Victoria’s family and are committed to assisting them. The company is making a $30,000 donation to assist with her medical bills. The entire KFC family is behind Victoria.”

When posted, the report casued an outrage on the web and Victoria’s story was picked up by media outlets coast to coast.
