Kodiak Alutiiq Week seeks artists and culture-bearers

d2ade8f6-bf17-41b2-aa58-da98941ca284The Alutiiq Museum, Sun’aq Tribe of Kodiak, Native Village of Afognak, and KIBSD are hosting an Alutiiq Week session in Kodiak during Spring Break, March 16-20, 2015. We’re seeking interest from Alutiiq artists and culture-bearers to lead or support a cultural activity. We encourage proposals for a wide range of potential experiences that would benefit students and their families. Candidates should possess the following:

  • Ability and knowledge to demonstrate an Alutiiq art or cultural activity area,
  • Interest or experience in teaching youth and community members,
  • Willingness to follow the museum’s code of conduct while participating.

Application Process:

  1. Please outline the activity you propose to lead and how it teaches an aspect of Alutiiq culture.
  2. Include a list of materials needed for the proposed activity.
  3. Indicate target age ranges and head count limits for the proposed activity.
  4. Contact information for two (2) references – people who can speak to your abilities.
