Alaska State Troopers report that they are seeking the whereabouts of a 49-year-old Kodiak man after one of his victims contacted troopers following an incident on Selief Lane on Friday evening.
Troopers responded to a residence on Selief Lane to conduct an investigation into multiple crimes alleged to have been committed by Kodiak resident Mark Benton. Charges of Assault II, III x2 and IV, kidnapping, Misconduct Involving Weapons III, and seven counts of violating conditions of release in a previous criminal case have been forwarded to the District Attorney’s office.
According to the trooper investigation, Benton had pointed a weapon at one victim and assaulted another person that he had a relationship with, before forcing them into a vehicle and attempting to keep them from leaving. That person was able to escape from the vehicle and flee to a nearby house where they called 911.
As of Monday afternoon, a $50,000 warrant has been issued for Benton’s arrest. Troopers ask that anyone with information as to his whereabouts to contact them at 907- 486-4121, or Crime Stoppers at 907-486-3113.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
