An employee of Evergreen Timber Camp in Danger Bay was transported to Kodiak from Afognak Island on Sunday by Andrews Air. She had suffered a leg wound from a shotgun blast on the beach near the camp. The incident occurred at about 2:30 in the afternoon.
The woman, a 43-year-old resident of Kodiak, was taken to the Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center for treatment of her wound.

Kodiak Police Department dispatchers informed the Alaska State Troopers of the shooting at approximately 3:18 pm on Sunday afternoon. Troopers and and an ambulance met the floatplane when it arrived at the Trident Basin float plane base
It was preliminarily determined, through statements from witnesses, that the 12-gauge shotgun wound that the woman suffered while a the logging camp was accidental. It was reported that the gunshot occurred while a 42-year-old man, also an employee of the camp, was handling the shotgun. But, troopers have delayed their official determination until they can investigate the scene on Afognak Island.
The wound to the unidentified woman’s leg was categorized as a non-life threatening injury.
The investigation into the incident is continuing.
