This is the second heavy quake to strike Iran this week. On April 9th, a powerful 6.3 earthquake struck the region killing 37 people and injuring over 850 others.
Iran is no stranger to strong earthquakes. The country sits on several major faults. Iran suffered a 6.6 earthquake in 2003 that took the lives of over 25,000 residents there.
