The man who Anchorage police were calling a person of interest in the violent assault case that took place on Fairbanks street on Monday morning has turned himself in.
Police actively searched for the man, identified as 21-year-old Bukurim Miftari, throughout the day Tuesday, Miftari contacted the Anchorage Police Department slightly after 6 pm on Tuesday evening through his attorney. By late Tuesday, Miftari was being questioned by authorities.

Miftari was sought for the assault on 30-year-old Kristen Reid, who was flound lying in a ditch on Fairbanks Street. Shortly before she was discovered, a passerby noticed an SUV parked in the middle of the street at that location. When police investigated the SUV it was found to have a blood-stained interior.
Police have not released the nature of Reid’s wounds or the manner in which she was assaulted.
Police attempted to contact Miftari at a south Anchorage residence on Monday night, but he fled the scene through a window at the rear of the building.
According to reports, Reid remains in critical condition at an Anchorage hospital.
