Sitka Police received a report of a nuisance Brown Bear at a home in Halibut Point on Tuesday.
Police, ADF&G, and Alaska Wildlife Troopers responded to the scene.
Their investigation found that the bear had damaged the property as it tried to gain access to the inside of the home through a window. Further investigation found that it was the same bear that had damaged other property in the area.
Troopers determined that the bear was an on-going public safety issue and so the officers tracked down the bear a short distance away and the bear was shot and killed.
The skull and hide were salvaged from the carcass for use by ADF&G.
