A Nikolsaevsk man who was trying to trade marijuana for cigarettes at the Anchor River Store was arrested by Alaska State Troopers on drug charges on Wednesday.
A report went in to troopers after 29-year-old Anatoly A. Kojin was in the Anchor River Store attempting to trade marijuana for cigarettes and refusing to leave the store at 9:25 pm Wednesday night. The caller gave the description of Kojin and the vehicle that he was seen getting into when calling.
Troopers located the suspect vehicle as it was turning on to the Sterling Highway from the Old Sterling. troopers contacted the man then identified as Kojin and Kojin admitted that he was the person attempting to trade drugs for smokes.
Troopers found that Kojin had just under an ounce of marijuana on his person when he was arrested on Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance VI and Probation Violation charges.
During the stop, a second person in the vehicle was found to have a warrant for his arrest. 27-year-old Homer resident Kenneth J Upton was found to be wanted for Theft IV.
Troopers arrested and transported both men to the Homer Jail. Kojin was held without bail pending arraignment, and Upton had his bail set at $250.
