An 81-year-old man, reported missing, on Thursday of last week was located later at the bottom of a 150-foot hill troopers reported on Tuesday.
According to Tuesday’s trooper dispatch, on Thursday, troopers were notified that 81-year-old Richard Hunt of Ninilchik went missing by friends who had gone to check on his well being. The friends reported that they did so because the night before, he appeared to be having health problems.
Ninilchik EMS responded to the scene, and searched the home, the outbuildings and the immediate area and found no sign of the elderly man.
Troopers went to the scene and began organizing a larger search for the missing Hunt. While they worked to organize a search party, troopers would discover the missing man behind his residence at the bottom of a 150-foot hill.
Troopers and EMS were able to retrieve Hunt from the base of the hill. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of severe hypothermia.
Troopers say they believe that Hunt had been at the bottom of the hill, and exposed to the elements, overnight.
