The end of the month will also be the end of the Inlet Inn, a hotel on 6th Avenue and H Street that has been a nest of criminal activity in Anchorage's downtown area for years.
The hotel has long been known as a haven of crime where drug dealers, drug users and alcoholics can go to continue their vices and activities. The police have long made at least one trip a day to the establishment . Most often the call is for drunkeness or drugs, and often for assaults as well.
The building was bought by Augustine Energy Center LLC about half-a-decade ago, they bought it, then leased it back to K and B Managment after plans for the property fell through. The property was originally bought to put up a 21-story office building. The properties adjoining the Inlet Inn were also purchased to make room for the new building.
But, citing economic downturn, the plans for the new office building were shelved however.

The building will be boarded up until later in the year. At that time, the building will likely be tore down and paved over and made into a parking lot.
According to reports, the decision to close came after the new owners failed to get their renters to increase security and address some of the problems, illegal and otherwise.
The hotel will close one year to the day that 50-year-old Andrew Wilson was fatally stabbed after being kicked out of a room by the occupant, 51-year-old Jackie Adams. Adams let the man back into the room for moments, before knifing him. Wilson was taken to the hospital, but died from his injuries. Wilson, Adams, and Adams girlfriend were drinking in the room at the time. Adams was convicted on charges of second-degree murder last fall.
Mayor Dan Sullivan announced the closure during his weekly address on Tuesday. He was pleased with the decision to close the business and congratulated the owners.
