A nude man roof-surfing on a Ford Ranger caused an accident on New Mexico’s Highway 522 when he fell from the vehicle and was lying on the side of the road on Friday evening June 6th.
When the man, later identified as Alexander Werner, fell from the roof of the vehicle, a motorcycle traveling on the highway slowed for the fallen man. As he did so, his motorcycle was rear-ended by a woman driving a Ford van. She was not aware that the motorcycle ahead of her was slowing.
When her naked surfer fell from the roof of her vehicle, the driver of the Ranger, Ms. Tashena Whittaker stopped, and with the help of a passing motorist, retrieved Werner and put him in the vehicle and drove off from the scene.
When State police arrived at the scene at mile 12 of 522, the motorcyclist injured in the crash was bleeding from a head injury and being loaded into an ambulance to be taken to the Holy Cross Hospital.
The passing motorist had stayed on the scene and was able to fill the police in on the incident.
After getting a description of the vehicle, state police stopped the Ranger two miles down the highway at milepost 14. When stopped, it was found that Werner had suffered injuries, but he declined any medical assistance.
Whittaker, because she had left the scene of the accident, was charged with with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries involved, which is a felony. She was also charged with Driving without a License. She was arrested and jailed with her bail set at $10,000.
Werner, the naked surfer was arrested for leaving the scene, as well as for indecent exposure and for not wearing a seat belt.
