The Hoonah police department reported today that they received a call on Friday morning reporting a vehicle accident on Long Island Road.

Police responded to the accident scene and found one person injured and another deceased in an overturned vehicle. The injured adult was transported Juneau for treatment of their injuries.

Troopers also responded to the scene and took over the case investigation. They report that names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The deceased adult’s remains are being sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy in the continuing investigation.

UPDATE: On Sunday AST released the names of the two occupants of the vehicle as “Jeffery Turner, age 23 of Tampa Bay, Florida and the other occupant of the vehicle that was injured was identified as Dylan Wiard, 24 years of age, of Juneau.
