Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence off of Kay Marie Drive at the request of the Mat-Su Fire Department on Wednesday as the department battled a residential fire there.
Troopers responded to the Palmer residence at 12:15 pm on Wednesday to investigate the fire at the home. Troopers would find that 44-year-old Kelly Priestley of Palmer had intentionally started the fire by pouring gasoline on the structure and then setting it ablaze.
The house was considered a total loss’
The Mat-Su Fire Department confirmed that there was no one in the house when it went up in flames and an “All Clear” was given.
Priestley was arrested on charges of Arson I and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility, where he was remanded with his bail set at $7,500.
