For the second time this year, the deadline for studded tire removal has been extended.
The Department of Public Safety announced yesterday that the studded-tire deadline would be moved to May 15th. The emergency order pertains to the entire state of Alaska.

It was on April 9th, that the Commissioner, Joseph Masters announced that the April 15th dealine would be extended to the first of May.
It is the lingering of winter on Alaska’s roads that prompted yet again another extension. Icy roads continue to persist on many of the state’s roads.
Studded tires left on after this additional deadline will cost the vehicle owner a correctable ticket in the amount of $50 per tire. Local police agencies may have higher fines.
