Multiple 911 calls went in to MATCOM this morning at just after 6 am reporting a rollover crash at mile 37.5 of the Parks Highway.
Troopers were nearby and able to respond to the accident within three minutes according to the trooper dispatch.
When troopers arrived on scene, they checked the driver of the vehicle, who was unresponsive. Troopers could not find a pulse. EMS from the Mat-Su Borough arrived on the scene shortly thereafter. EMS pronounced the driver, tentatively identified as Ines Lara-Morfin, as deceased.
The investigation conducted at the scene of the accident revealed that the 2007 Chevy 2-door sedan was traveling northbound on the Parks Highway when they left the highway and entered the median separating the north ans southbound lanes.
The driver, it was determined, overcorrected and re-entered the highway crossing both northbound lanes then rolled at least four times and then came to rest on its roof in the ditch.
The driver’s remains will autopsied by the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage, the identity of the driver will be positively determined at that time. Authorities working to notify next of kin.
The investigation into the accident will continue.
