At least 18 students at Shoenbar Middle School in Ketchikan have been implicated in a hijacking carried out on the school's computers according to school officials.
School officials were alerted of the hi-jack on Monday after students observed computers being remotely accessed by other students.

Students tricked an unknown number of teachers to sign in on laptops for what they thought were software updates but was instead a login giving the laptop administrative access.
The hi-jacking apparently didn’t pose any danger to the schools servers or to other information as grades and other records, as those areas of the school’s computer system were not touched. But the hijacking allowed remote access to other computers used by students. The remote access feature is utilized by teachers to prevent students from using the computers for things other than classroom operations during school hours.
All of the approximately 300 loaner computers at the school have been seized as technicians comb through the computers for information. The process will take most of the week.
