Trooper dispatch reports that a trooper has responded to Huslia to assist with the continued efforts to locate a missing elderly man from that community.
It was reported on Wednesday that the Alaska State troopers had been notified on Monday of a missing snowmachiner, identified as 64-year-old Alvin W. Dayton, who had not returned from a wood-gathering trip outside of Huslia.
Huslia community members became concerned about Dayton’s whereabouts after he failed to return from his outing on Monday, and initiated a hasty search for the missing elder.
Their search led them to the Koyukuk River, where they discovered snow machine tracks leading to a large hole in the river. Troopers report that the “searchers recovered what is believed to be the sled that Dayton was towing with the snowmachine.” There was no sign of the missing man and his machine.
Search efforts are continuing to locate Dayton.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
