Samantha Koenig disappeared from her place of Employment on Wednesday night as her shift was about to end. She worked at the Common Grounds Coffee kiosk at 630 East Tudor Road in Anchorage.
The video surveillance camera on the premisis, shows a man wearing a dark, hooded sweatsirt apparently forcing Koenig to leave with him. They headed east on foot. Police have not released the video footage, saying that there is nothing on the tape that would aid the investigation or identify the man, who has his head down and away from the camera according to police.
Police say that adverse weather and a delay in reporting her disappearance hampered the investigation. They say that snow had covered up all evidence and scent from the abduction. Koenig wasn’t reported missing until noon the next day.
On Sunday, Samantha’s father, James Koenig announced that the reward had grown to $41,000. Donation buckets have been placed around town collecting reward monies. The father reports that donations have arrived from all over town, the state, as well as from all around the country.
