ALLAKAKET, ALASKA-After two days of searching with no results, the Alaska State Troopers are suspending search operations for 31-year-old Timothy Ned. Their last efforts were late Saturday night. Informal efforts will continue by boat with people from Hughes, Allakaket and Huslia however.

More information has surfaced about the incident surrounding the missing boater. Apparently, late Wednesday night, the boat may have struck a submerged log, causing the boat to make an abrupt turn. The strike jolted Timothy Ned and Alvin Ned Jr into the water. Alvin Ned Sr jumped into the river to rescue his son, but was unable to do the same for his nephew. Timothy Ned and his family was drinking at the time, but Timothy was wearing a life jacket according to reports.

Earlier reports had the three remaining family members walking back to town. But, further investigation finds that Alvin Ned Sr and his son walked back to the village, while Dennis Ned remained at a cabin until the next day and was given a ride back to town. Their boat had run out of gas as they were trying to return to the village.

Allakaket is on the south bank of the Koyukuk River, southwest of its junction with the Alatna River, approximately 190 air miles northwest of Fairbanks and 57 miles upriver from Hughes. The village of Alatna is located directly across the river.
