The Parks Highway near mile 214.5 was close to three hours after a semi overturned there, spilling a small amount of diesel fuel on Thursday morning.
Alaska State troopers responded to the scene on the Parks Highway at approximately 9:05 AM on Thursday to investigate a semi truck carrying methane that had ran off the road and overturned.
Their investigation at the scene disclosed that 45-year-old Wasilla resident Russell Bowman was traveling north on the Parks Highway, when the semi he was driving, drifted off the road. When Bowman tried to correct the semi and bring it back onto the roadway, the trailer he had in tow, jackknifed and caused the vehicle and trailer to flip on their side.
Bowman was not injured in the accident and was cited for negligent driving.
The small amount of diesel fuel that spilled during the incident was quickly contained in cleaned up, after the accident the semi trailer were righted and taken to a safe location.
