A registered sex offender residing in Kodiak has been charged with another sex crime. 32-year-old Robert Richard Zoellner has been charged with Sexual Assault of a woman near the Buskin River Campground. The crime occurred on December 18th of 2012.
Zoellner has a record of sexual offenses. He was convicted of Attempted Sexual Misconduct in the Second Degree in a Schoolcraft County Circuit Court on April 22, 1999 for the crime he committed on Christmas Eve of the previous year. Zoellner served 7.5 years in Michigan for that offense.
The woman who reported the incident, told authorities that she was picked up at her residence at Bell’s Flats on December 18th by Zoellner. She reported that they stopped at the Buskin River Campground on their way to town. It was there that Zoellner attempted to to kiss her while demanding sex. When she refused, Zoellner choked her unconscious according to reports.
The victim reported that she awoke to having compressed air from a can being administered to her through her nose. After she was awakened she was sexually assaulted while being punched in the face. Accoding to arresting documents, Zoellner then dropped the victim off back at her home.

Zoellner allegedly told the woman that she owed him because he had put minutes on her cell phone. The woman only knew Zoellner for approximately two weeks before the assault occurred.
Alaska State Stoopers arrested Zoellner on December 18th. He was charged with Sexual Assault I and Assault I. He was remanded to the Kodiak Jail and bail was later set at $250,000 and a Court Approved Third Party Custodian.
Court records also show that two women have also filed for long term protective orders after the incident.
Zoellner was arraigned on December 20th. His next hearing is on February 4th at 10am. He remains in custody.
Records show that he resided on Turner Lane. That information is only current to July 31st of 2012.
