An Anchorage man was taken into custody by Loss Prevention Officers and others after a stabbing incident in a mid-town Fred Meyers just before 5:30 pm on Sunday the Anchorage police report.
Witnesses, including the victim, the Loss Prevention officer with Fred Meyers say that, 31-year-old Steven Treadway, was seen shoplifting and concealing merchandise in his backpack late Sunday afternoon. After doing so, Treadway attempted to exit the store, when the victim, an LP officer with the store, tried to stop him as he ran away. The officer caught up to him, but, Treadway pulled out a knife and stabbed the officer in the neck.
Despite his wound, the officer, along with others, were able to subdue the suspect and hold him until police arrived.
The LP officer was transported to a local hospital for a two-inch gash on his neck. He is listed in stable condition.
Treadway was arrested and taken to APD headquarters for questioning. Treadway was placed under arrest and charged with Assault II and Robbery.
