A small asteroid flew safely past the earth ar 8:42 pm on Friday night. It shot over at about 65,000 miles above the earth' surface.
The thirty-foot in diameter rock was over the Southern Ocean south of Tasmania at its closest approach.

The asteroid was discovered a mere day before it crossed the earth’s path on June 6th. It was discovered by NASA sponsored Catalina Sky Survey. It was designated the name 2013 LR6.
NASA’s Near-Earth Object Program at NASA Headquarters, Washington, manages and funds the search, study and monitoring of asteroids and comets whose orbits periodically bring them close to Earth. JPL manages the Near-Earth Object Program Office for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate in Washington. JPL is a division of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena.
