A crash that resulted in a vehicle fire in Soldotna ended with no injuries and the driver being cited for basic speed and no insurance, the trooper dispatch reported on Wednesday.
Troopers were called to the scene of a vehicle fire at 11:21 pm on Tuesday. When the arrived at the scene at K-B Drive, they observed a GMC Sierra fully engulfed in flames.
CES arrived on scene and extinguished the flames.
The investigation conducted at the scene revealed that 18-year-old John McCord, a Soldotna resident, had been traveling down the drive with a passenger, and because of the speed he was traveling, was unable to make the turn, slid sideways, then collided with a fence in front of Best Transit Mix. A short time later, the vehicle ignited and burst into flames.
Although there were no injuries in the incident, the vehicle was a total loss.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
