While conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle at mile 78 of the Sterling Highway, a trooper observed another speeding vehicle.
The trooper, from the Bureau of Highway Patrol, Kenai Peninsula team, was on a traffic stop with a vehicle on the northbound shoulder along the Sterling Highway, he observed another vehicle traveling southbound, then move into the northbound lane to pass another vehicle near the traffic stop. The troopers stated that the vehicle, identified as an older moddel Chevy truck continued down the highway, meanwhile, passing other vehicles at a high rate of speed.
The speeding truck was eventually pulled over, and the driver was identified as 19-year-old Soldotna resident Samuel P. Penrod. A passenger in the vehicle, was identified as 20-year-old Adam P. McMillan of Sterling.
