Alaska State Troopers reported Thursday that search warrants, issued after the May 1 contact with a Kenai driver and his passenger, resulted in further drug and weapons charges.
On May 1, 25-year-old Justin Vinzant of Kenai, and his passenger, 34-year-old Dalton Cullen of Soldotna were pulled over in a traffic stop by troopers near Alex Drive on the Kenai Spur Highway. During this stop, Vinzant was found to be in possession of over two grams of methamphetamine. As a result, Vinzant was charged with one count of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance IV.
Vinzant’s passenger, Cullen, was also contacted by troopers, at which time he provided a false name to the officer. When his true identity was ascertained, it was found that he was in violation of his Third-Party Conditions of Release in a December felony theft case in which he was awaiting trial.[xyz-ihs snippet=”adsense-body-ad”]
Items were seized and search warrants were applied for and granted. As a result of the service of those search warrants, Cullen was found to have been in possession of “multiple controlled substances, including approximately 1 ounce of methamphetamine, over 6 grams of heroin, 8 ”hits” of LSD, cocaine, and multiple types of pills, as well as a .357 Magnum revolver,” the trooper dispatch revealed.
Cullen was arrested at the scene and transported to the Wildwood Pretrial Facility where he was remanded.
As a result of the search, Cullen was additionally charged with four counts of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance IV. While troopers reported a Misconduct Involving Weapons charge against Cullen, online court records holds no record of that charge.
Following the MICs IV charge against Vinzant, a Petition to Revoke Probation was filed in court, a previous 2015 Assault case was re-opened, and a summons was issued on May 6th.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adversal-468×60″]
