A small earthquake, but the largest for the state this month thus far shook the central Alaska region on Tuesday evening, rattling widows and shaking items on shelves at 6:13 pm.
The shaker, measured at 4.37 magnitude occurred at a depth of 24 miles beneath the surface 27 miles to the Southeast of Talkeetna and 30 miles northwest of Willow in the Hatcher Pass region just past the dinner hour.
The tremor was felt in the city of Anchorage, in Eagle River, Wasilla, Palmer, Talkeetna and Willow, and although the experience was a bit scary and unnerving, there was no damage reported as a result of the quake.
The largest quake to occur in the state last month was a 5.9 magnitude quake that occurred 213.5 miles west of Dutch Harbor just after noon on February 26th.
