New information is to be released within the next few days on the shooting death of Treyvon Martin, the teen shot by a neighborhood watch volunteer in Florida earlier this year.
Special Prosecutor Angela Corey told the press yesterday that the information will be released in the next three days. Corey is the “Tough on Crime” state attorney overseeing the probe into the teen’s death.
It is still uncertain what information will come out in this new, unexpected release, but meanwhile, former lawyers for Zimmerman, Craig Sonner and Hal Uhrig, announced in an emergency press conference that they are no longer representing the man.
They stated that up until this weekend, they have had daily contact with Zimmerman, but that after Sunday, they have had no contact with their former client and have no idea where he may be, or what it is that he is doing. “He’s not returning my messages, he’s not returning my texts, he’s not returning my emails, he won’t even give me a collect call,” Sonner said. Uhrig disclosed for the first time, that his now former client is hiding somewhere outside the state of Florida.
This new news of Zimmerman’s whereabouts prompted attorney for the Martin family, Benjamin Crump, to say he believed that Zimmerman was a flight risk.
Zimmerman has set up his own website to solicit donations for his defense. It was updated yesterday, saying, “I am attempting to respond to each and every one of my supporters personally. The support has been overwhelming in volume and strength.”
Zimmerman made an off-the-record call to Sean Hannity, upsetting his attorneys, Sean Hannity confirmed having a conversation with Zimmerman on yesterday’s show, but released no other information. Hannity said, “He reached out to me and we spoke on the phone about his case and I agreed not to report on the contents of that conversation. That’s it. I know nothing about his relationship with his now former attorneys.”
Zimmerman also contacted Special Prosecutor Angela Corey on Tuesday, but because he had retained counsel, she refused to speak with him.
