On Saturday, according to the Alaska State Trooper dispatch, a disturbance call went in to the troopers in Soldotna from Bear Drive in Sterling. The caller told the troopers that him and his girlfriend were shot at as they drove down Bear Drive.
The complainants identified the shooter as 49-year-old Sterling resident Theodore Cummings.

Troopers responded to the scene and their investigation found that Cummings had shot at the couple from an ATV. It was also determined that Cummings was under the influence of a controlled substance at the time.
Cummings was arrested on two counts of Attempted Murder, and Weapons Misconduct. When attempting to arrest Cummings he resisted and a charge of Resisting Arrest was added.
Cummings mother, it was found, concealed evidence pertinent to the investigation on her son. She had hidden the weapon that T. Cummings had used to shoot at the couple.
80-year-old Joanne Cummings was also arrested at the scene and charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence and Hindering Prosecution I.
Both Joanne and Theodore wer taken to Wildwood Pretrial and remanded there.
