ALLAKAKET, ALASKA-Late Thursday night, just prior to 11 o'clock, Alaska State Troopers were notified of a missing boater, 31-year-old Timothy Ned, near the community of Allakaket. State and Wildlife Troopers responded from Fairbanks and set up a search operation Friday morning.
According to the State Troopers, Timothy Ned, Dennis Ned, Alvin Ned Sr, and Alvin Ned Jr, went out on a boat on Wednesday and did not return that day. When they did return the next day, they came back on foot without the boat or Timothy Ned. They reported that Timothy Ned had fallen overboard and disappeared. The boat was found 12 miles downriver on the Koyukuk River from Allakaket. It was out of gas.
Trooper conducted aerial searches of the area in an Alaska Wildlife Trooper Cessna 185, as numerous boaters searched below. The hunt for Ned was unsuccessful. The search through the rivers and creeks around the area resumed today.
Alcohol appears to be a factor in this incident.
