It was at approximately 7:50 pm on Saturday night that troopers were called to the scene of an accident involving three fatalities on the Glenn Highway.
When troopers and EMS arrived on the scene at mile 37 of the Glenn Highway, EMS pronounced three motorcyclists deceased at 7:56 pm. Those who died at the scene were identified as 54-year-old James D. Carlyle, 49-year-old Sabrina A Carlyle, and 63-year-old Elaine J. Loew.
The trooper investigation at the scene determined that, while traveling north on the Glenn Highway in a 1987 Ford F-250, 19-year-old Slade A Storud stopped to make a left turn into a driveway. Traveling behind Storud was a 2010 Chevy van driven by 18-year-old Dakota J. Letherman.
Letherman failed to stop for the truck ahead and rear-ended the truck driving it into the southbound lane directly into the path of the four motorcyclists that Stroud had stopped to let pass before turning into the driveway.
All four of the motorcycles collided with the truck, only one motorcyclist, the husband of Elaine Loew, Paul Loew, survived the incident.
