It was announced on Thursday by the Alaska State Troopers that 20-year-old Togiak resident Michael Poulson had pled guilty to fishing in closed waters in Dillingham District Court after being caught fishing in closed waters on Friday.
Poulson was discovered by Alaska WIldlife Troopers fishing with a 150-fathom net about 2.3 miles from the nearest waters open to commercial fishing on Friday.

The trooper aircaft that spotted Poulson from the air landed near the vessel and identified Poulson as the skipper and permit holder aboard the fishing vessel “Sea Urchin.”
After being cited for fishing in closed waters on Monday, in an unusually speedy resolution to the offense, Poulson appeared in court on the charges on Tuesday and pled guilty to the charge.
After pleading guilty to the charge, Poulson received 30 days in jail with 30 days suspended, he also was ordered to pay a fine of $15,000 with $8,000 suspended but also had to ferfeit the 28-foot modutech “Sea Urchin.”
Poulson was also ordered to be placed on probation for a period of three years.
Court records fail to show any previous convictions for Poulson.
