Troopers Arrest Hiding REDDI after Car Chase on Steese Highway

Alaska State Troopers report that as multiple calls begin coming in reporting a REDDI (Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately) who appeared intoxicated on the Richardson Highway at approximately 5:30 PM on Sunday, patrol vehicles responded to the vicinity and made contact with the vehicle at milepost 360 of the highway.

When troopers attempted to pull over the reported green Chevrolet pickup truck with a single occupant in it, the vehicle sped away at a high rate of speed. Troopers began pursuit, chasing the vehicle as the driver committed multiple moving violations as well as endangered pedestrians along the highway with his reckless driving behavior.

Eventually, the chase ended with the suspect vehicle pulling into Shannon Park on the Steese Highway. The driver, later identified as Joshua Schloesser, age 40, had taken the troopers to his camper parked there. Schloesser went into his camper and concealed himself there for over an hour before being convinced to give himself up to the patrol officers.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]As he was being placed under arrest, Schloesser physically assaulted one of the troopers.

Schloesser was transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center and remanded there on charges of Evade Elude, Assault III x2, Assault V, Reckless Driving, and DUI.
