Troopers Continue Arrests in Eklutna Hatchery Case

image22-12-2014 06.50.57Alaska State Troopers announced that they had made more arreests in the burglary of the Eklutna Tailrace Fish Hatchery that took place in early November where $30,000 worth of copper, steel and aluminium had been stolen and another $30,000 in damages had been done to the facility. The burglars cut through walls to gain access to locked portions of the facility and to steal the metals in the walls.

Troopers say that they have made another arrest and several other suspects have been identified in that burglary.

Troopers report the arrest of 18-year-old Palmer resident Brian Armstrong. He was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility, where he was remanded on charges of Theft I, Burglary II, Criminal Mischief III, and Tampering with Physical Evidence. Armstrong was held without bail pending arraignment.

On Saturday, another was arrested as well. Troopers reported the arrest of 19-year-old Nicholas Simmons as well. He was arrested on similar charges with his bail set at $20,000.

Troopers arrested two others on Friday. Arrested then were 35-year-old Michael Scott and 19-year-old Corey Jenson, both of Palmer.

Troopers report further suspects and a continuing investigation.
