A fight broke out at the Lighthouse Tesoro station in Ketchikan on Friday. It soon escalated and a handgun was pulled out by one of the combatants.
Alaska State Troopers were notified of the altercation at the station at mile 10.7 of the North Tongass Highway.

When troopers responded, it was found that all of the people involved in the altercation had fled the scene in two vehicles before their arrival. A witness to the fight informed troopers that at least three men were involved in the conflict and that one of the combatants had produced a handgun and had brandished in the air during the fight. It was also found that both vehicles had been damaged by the three men.
Although the vehicles were gone by the time the troopers arrived, a witness was able to give the troopers a description of the two vehicles.
Using the information from the witness, troopers were able to locate both of the vehicles and was able to talk to the drivers. During their investigation, one of the drivers was identified as 24-year-old Ketchikan resident Nicholas Chatham. It was found that Chatham had been operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
Chatham was arrested, transported, and remanded to the Ketchikan Correctional Center.
