On Friday night at 9:20 pm, Troopers, Mat-Su Fire and EMS responded to a two-vehicle collision in the Parks Highway Safety Corridor.
According to the trooper report, after troopers arrived at the scene of the accident, they investigated the incident and their investigation revealed that 55-year-old Big Lake resident Joanna L. Fulton was traveling southbound on the highway at mile 49 when she attempted to negotiate a right-hand turn in the hiighway. As she did so, her vehicle, a 1992 Lincoln Town Car, strayed into the northbound lane and into the path of a 2008 Chevy Silverado driven by 41-year-old Wasilla resident Stephen W. Caverly.

The trooper investigation found that Fulton had been operating her vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Additional, troopers found two open containers in Fulton’s vehicle. Subsequently, Fulton was arrested for DUI. Further investigation found that Fulton was on Felony probation with alcohol restrictions. As a result, Fulton was arrested for probation violation as well.
The ocupants of Caverly’s vehicle were released at the scene.
The highway was closed down for a short time as the two vehicles were removed from the accident scene.
Fulton was remanded at the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held without bail on the DUI and probation violation.
