Troopers Respond to Extreme DUI in Aleknagik

ruraltrooperLate Sunday afternoon, a tip went in to the Alaska State Troopers reporting a possible intoxicated driver on Aleknagik Road in Aleknagik. When troopers responded to the scene, they found a “small white car facing into oncoming traffic,” the trooper dispatch said on Monday.

The troopers described the vehicle as “engulfed in white smoke from the front tires, that were still spinning.” According to the report, the vehicle’s front tires were melted down to the rim by the time the troopers arrived.

When they got closer to the vehicle, troopers found that the female driver, later identified as 23-year-old Elena Bartman-Wallman, of Anchorage, had passed out behind the wheel with her foot on the gas pedal.

Troopers successfully secured the vehicle and turned off the ignition.

Multiple witnesses came forward to tell troopers that all the passengers in the vehicle fled the scene leaving Wallman passed out behind the wheel with the tires spinning.

The investigation following the incident would result in Wallman being arrested on charges of DUI and Driving While License Revoked.

Wallman was transported to Dillingham for DataMaster processing and remand.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
