The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has implemented PreCheck Touchless ID at ANC. This technology uses advanced facial comparison to verify a traveler’s identity in seconds. Travelers simply look into a camera at the checkpoint, and their live photo is matched against their passport photo. TSA states that this touchless process enhances security while providing a more efficient and convenient screening experience.
In addition, beginning February 1, travelers who arrive at a TSA checkpoint without an acceptable form of identification will have the option to pay a $45 fee to be vetted and proceed through security. This option applies only to passengers who do not have a REAL ID or another acceptable form of identification.
A list of acceptable forms of identification can be found here: TSA’s ConfirmID.
Part 150 Noise Study
ANC’s Part 150 Noise Compatibility Study is evaluating aircraft noise and land use compatibility around the airport. The study’s goal is to develop practical strategies for reducing and managing aircraft noise impacts on nearby communities. As part of this effort, we are preparing both a Noise Exposure Map (NEM) and a Noise Compatibility Program (NCP) to better understand and address these impacts.
Active noise monitoring has been completed, and the study is roughly halfway through. A Study Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting, along with a public open house, is scheduled for February 19. The SAC meeting will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and the Public Open House will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Both events will be held at the Coast Inn.
We encourage anyone interested to attend the Public Open House and participate. To learn more about the study and to sign up to receive project updates, visit: ANC Part 150 Noise Study.

Wildlife Awareness Reminder: Stay Alert Around Airport

Moose activity has increased throughout January as heavy snow pushes them out of the woods to forage. Please stay alert to your surroundings when walking between buildings and always give moose plenty of space.
For those working on airport property, be especially vigilant when entering or exiting the airfield to prevent moose from slipping through gates or access points.
Thank you for paying attention and helping to keep everyone safe.
Stay Off the Ice at Lake Hood
Lake Hood is closed to pedestrian traffic year-round. This winter’s sharp temperature swings and January’s heavy snowfall have left the ice especially unstable. Walking on the ice creates a serious risk of breaking through.
For your safety, please stay off the lake—and please help spread the word to others.
Snow and Parking Updates
With Anchorage breaking its January snowfall record, we have a lot of snow. Because of this, we encourage everyone to arrive early and allow extra time for security.
Before heading to the airport, please check your flight status and plan ahead for parking. With winter travel picking up, our Short-Term and Long-Term Parking lots at ANC may reach capacity. Please consider alternative parking options to avoid delays and make your journey smoother.
Alternative parking areas include:
• North Terminal Parking Lot
• Park, Ride & Fly Lot
• Private parking options, such as Dimond Airport Parking and Alaska Airport Parking
For up-to-date information on available parking, visit: Airport Parking – Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. Airport Parking – Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.
