Two Arrested after Returning to Wasilla Scene of Crime

Troopers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from the East Fireweed Road Shell gas station on Thursday evening at 7:22 pm.

As troopers on the scene conducted their investigation, two men, identified as suspects in the theft of a white 2001 Chevy truck at the station, returned to the scene of the crime in a different vehicle.

Troopers arrested both 33-year-old Daniel Walsh and 24-year-old Joseph Thurston at the scene.

The trooper investigation revealed that Palmer and Thurston had stolen the Chevy truck, and afterwards, removed stolen items from the vehicle.

Both men were found to have been operating the vehicles with revoked licences, and further, Walsh was found to be under the influence, and so was charged with DUI as well.

Both men were transported and remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility.

Walsh was charged with Vehicle Theft I, Theft II, DUI and DWLR. His bail was set at $10,000 and a Court Approved Third Party Custodian. Thurston was charged with Vehicle Theft I, Theft I, Theft II, and DWL. His bail was set at $5,000

According to troopers, “The stolen Chevy truck and some of the stolen property has been recovered.”
