At midnight on Saturday morning, a report went in to the Alaska State Troopers from Sitka Mountain Rescue advising them of two lost hunters on the backside of Harbor Mountain in the Starrigavan Bowl area.

According to the report, 20-year-old Taylor LeCrone and 21-year-old Zachary Alderman had hiked into the area to go deer hunting and became lost. The report also advised that the two men had lost their packs and were without supplies.

A Hasty Team from Sitka Mountain Rescue was launched and at 1:30 am, the team located LeCrone at the Harbor Mountain Shelter. LeCrone reported that his hunting partner, Alderman, had slid down an embankment and suffered minor injuries, but was able to walk.

At 1:52 am, Alderman was located by the team down a three hundred foot vertical embankment. An investigation of his injuries found bumps and bruises but found Alderman was mobile.

The team was able to guide Alderman back up the embankment and back on to the trail.

By 3:50 am, both hunters as well as the rescue team had arrived back in Sitka. Both hunters declined medical attention and were released.
